BOTSWANA 50 YEARS FORWARD

Harmony Venture Partners recently hosted the Silicon Valley leg of the “Botswana 50 Years Forward” Symposium tour, celebrating 50 years of independence and looking forward to the next 50 years.

The Silicon Valley stop included a two-day event with public and private high-tech companies, leading Venture Capital firms, and two world-renowned academic institutions, Stanford University and the University of California Berkeley. Distinguished members of these organizations presented and discussed select technologies, the business landscape of key sectors, and the relevance to the “Botswana 50 Years Forward” vision.

The agenda covered a broad range of exciting technology topics, including clean energy, smart cities, drones for the delivery of healthcare services, commercial drones for aerial imagery and survey data, next generation GPS, 3D-printing, and community cellular solutions. Equally exciting was the quality of participating companies, which included Facebook, Autodesk, PlugandPlayTech, FlyZipline, Tekpea, Swift Navigation, Kespry and Powerhive. Leading venture capital firms Andreessen Horowitz, Base Ventures, Draper Ventures, and Google Ventures also shared their vision of the future.
